Fonty, "the yarn maker of Rougnat", one of the last manufacturers of yarn and yarn dyeing still in business in France, earned the Label EPV (Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant) in 2017 by the Minister of l’Economy which distinguishes the businesses which strive for excellence in their know-how. The yarn company was created in 1880 on the banks of the Cher river, a few kilometers from the springs in the heart of Combrailles en Creuse, traditional land of livestock and textile industry. It possesses original procedures, advanced skills, and experience coupled with a parc of traditionnal machines the the crews maintain, renovate and progressively complete. Fonty is an active member of the association Lainamac, whose objective is to promote and develop the wool industry in the Massif Central.
